A fully-functioning eyeliner made of plastic that looks like a real eyeliner is on sale at the luxury fashion chain Younique Cosmetics.
The company, which has an international presence, has launched the eyeliner with its new “luminous” brand.
Younique founder and chief executive, Aneesh Kumar, said he was inspired by his family’s life story to create a product that would be “very easy to use”.
L’Auberge du Monde – “The light of the world”L’AUUBREGE du MOND – The light of life” is a playful homage to a young boy’s favourite toy, a doll.”
We wanted to take the light of childhood, of childhood toys and make it look as modern as possible,” he said.
The formula consists of two layers of a silicone-based gel and two layers made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
It is infused with a polymer to help it adhere to the skin.
The eye pencil, which was inspired in the US, is available in two shades, pink and green, and is designed to cover the lash line.
The eyeliner, priced at $149, is a first for Youniquess cosmetics, which launched in January in the United States.
Kumar said the company was also launching the “light of the earth” line, which is a shade lighter than the original “luminescent” line.”
It is designed for people who don’t want to have too much eye makeup on, so that they can use the lumière and use the eyes to see the world,” he added.”
The ‘luminosity’ of the luminous eye pencil will be more appealing to those who are looking for something different.
“The new line has been created with Youniques unique blend of technology and art, Kumar said.”
When you wear it, it looks like real eyeliners,” he explained.”
If you look closely, you can see that the brush and the eye pencil are actually a real lens.””
So, when you put it on your eyelid, it actually does its job and it’s very realistic.
“To me, it’s a beautiful addition to the market.”
Youniques lumières have been a hit with customers in India, and the company has a presence in several other Asian countries.
